Phsyically, Gabe will see it as a strange chance to actually be free and talk to people--quite he opposite of what most view their kidnapping as. Gabe will wholeheartedly embrace it and what he does here, and while it's important to not he's not looking for redemption or anything of the sort by interacting with people, Gabe being able to talk with other people while not knowing them intimately will be interesting.
